The French philosopher Albert Camus described himself as a non-believer, but not an atheist, stating: "I have nothing but veneration and respect for the person of Christ and his story. I do not believe in his resurrection." Yet Camus' Christ is strangely present and alive in his life and work, as evidenced by certain phrases: "His mother is Christ" or "You have to choose between Christ and the killer."
