We will begin by exploring the reality of Eastern Christians (Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Israel/Palestine and elsewhere): these ancient Churches still bear the living memory of the first Christian communities and are true witnesses at the heart of wounded societies. These Churches also have a deep vocation for ecumenism, the fruit of centuries of neighbourliness, divisions and reunions. Entering into their journey allows us to approach what is most precious to them: their way of believing and praying.
From there, the journey will continue into their spiritual world: the prayer of the monks, the inspiration of their saints, the depth of the Fathers, the beauty of their liturgies, the symbolic power of their rites and festivals, the pilgrimages that give a face to faith, and the simplicity of popular devotions that nourish daily life. And like any true quest for God, the faith of Eastern Christians opens up a space in each of us where light can enter. It will be a time to welcome, contemplate, listen, and perhaps allow that inner path that only God can trace to take shape within us.
